• The original post is from 2006, but I want to leave a note for others who may come looking later. I wish someone had done this for me
  
  I was in a similar situation a few days ago. After digging for quite a bit I found a page that basically compares transfer options. I found out that Canadian Tire Bank and Bank of Montreal offer a variety of options at competitive rates. Most banks allow non-account holders to transfer money at their branches.
